100-Huntley

Nashville, Tenn. (February 17, 2010) – Author and recording artist David Teems recently appeared on Canada’s longest running daily talk show, “100 Huntley Street,” where he chatted with hosts Moira Brown and Jim Cantelon about his new Thomas Nelson book, Majestie: The King Behind the King James Bible, a book Cantelon declared to be “…one of the best written books I’ve ever read. It’s a page turner.”

“I have been escaping into the 16th century for almost a week now, into chapters of history that are more exciting than any movie I’ve seen in recent years,” added co-host Moira Brown.

2011 marks the 400th anniversary of the release of the King James Bible (after the British monarch who commissioned the popular English-language version of the world’s most influential book). Teems wrote the book after becoming intrigued with this quirky and yet magnificent king.

In his intriguing new biography, Teems employs a storyteller’s eye for detail to explore the life and legacy of James Stuart, better known as James I, King of England. King James, it turns out, was a study in contradiction. Intellectually astute, he could be as ribald as he was eloquent. He showed flashes of brilliant leadership, but wallowed in petty differences. He could be dazzling, charming and polished, or coarse, vulgar and petulant. In short, Teems unveils James I of England as an all too flawed human being in need of redemption. And yet James and only James could have given us the great Bible that he did.

Teems serves as guest teacher during the month of February for “Truth to Go,” the popular teaching segment which airs Monday through Friday on “100 Huntley Street,” and is hosted online at www.100huntley.com. Crossroads Christian Communications has also selected Speak To Me, a scripture CD with companion booklet designed to accompany Majestie, as the ministry’s contributor’s gift for the month of February. Speak To Me features select scripture readings by Teems from the King James Bible over the music of guitar legends Phil Keaggy and Tom Hemby.

“100 Huntley Street,” the flag-ship television program of Crossroads Christian Communications, was the first daily Christian television program in Canada. An interview/talk program, “100 Huntley Street,” which airs throughout Canada and in the U.S. on the NRB Network, brings the Christian message to the viewer by exposing them to real people with real stories.
